Hyde-Smith: Roe v. Wade overturned, 2 years later

Monday, U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), Brookhaven resident and chair of the Senate Pro-Life Caucus, issued the following statement regarding the second anniversary of the historic June 24, 2022, U.S. Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade:
“On this second anniversary of the Dobbs decision, pro-life Americans across the country celebrate the principles on which this movement stands: love and support for mothers, families, and their children — both born and pre-born. Our collective push to pass pro-life and pro-family legislation on the Senate floor last week demonstrates the comprehensive approach that I and my life-affirming colleagues believe in when it comes to supporting pregnancy centers, ensuring the most basic protections for our pre-born babies, and empowering couples who are trying to build their families.
“I am proud to stand behind legislation that consistently reflects the long-standing protections of a pregnant mother’s life in existing federal and state laws.
“I will continue to support states through the court system as they fight to protect their life-affirming laws from the Biden administration and the aggressive abortion industry. As we mark the second year since the historic Supreme Court decision, we must remember that the Dobbs victory comes with a responsibility to continue to fight for life and to hold pro-abortion administrations, like the current one, accountable for unlawful actions.”
In the past week, Republican-sponsored bill promoting pro-life, pro-women, and pro-family policies, including Hyde-Smith’s Reproductive Empowerment and Support through Optimal Restoration (RESTORE) Act, were all blocked by pro-abortion Democrat Senators.
