BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Engineer Ryan Holmes gave an update on bridge construction projects Monday morning at a Board of Supervisors meeting. The meeting was one of two regularly scheduled meetings for June.
Holmes said work was progressing on work to replace a bridge on Auburn Road in District 4. He told supervisor Eli Ferguson that crews are starting to place riprap and work on the center span of the bridge. Additionally, crews are driving pilings for the bridge.
District 5 Supervisor Doug Falvey was told that contracts for Opelousas Lane were sent out and have not been returned yet. Once they are returned there will be a design phase and pre contract meeting.
On Lott Smith, Holmes said they are working to finish surveys and environmental plans for a bridge which crosses the Bayou Pierre down the hill from Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Holmes said there is no easement to deal with so the County should be able to move fast on the project.
A bridge replacement project on Bethel Road, a district line project for Ferguson and District 3 Supervisor John David Hart, is ready to bid. Holmes said they have one more landowner to buy the right of way from.
“They haven’t gotten to us but we will hopefully hear something soon,” Holmes said. “Hopefully it will all fall into place soon.”
