Power restored to nearly 700 customers

BROOKHAVEN — Thunderstorms moving through southweste Mississippi Monday afternoon knocked out power to more than 700 customers in Lincoln and Lawrence County. In downtown Brookhaven, the rainfall was heavy.

Magnolia Electric reported 259 customers in Lincoln County and 531 customers in Lawrence County were without power as of 2 p.m. Monday. By 2:30 p.m.,  power was restored to customers and the total had dropped to 34 customers in Lincoln County without power. All power in Lawrence County was restored.

Rainfall could continue until 11 p.m. tonight. There are currently no severe thunderstorm warnings, watches or advisories.
