BROOKHAVEN — It has been 11 months since the news Five-Below planned to renovate a space next to TJ Maxx at 830 Brookway Boulevard broke. Readers asked if the store was still planning to come to Brookhaven.
The question arose when 601 Sports moved down the sidewalk to the former Rite Aid space, Save-A-Lot closed and ALDI announced it was coming to Brookhaven. Building Inspector David Fearn confirmed ALDI was working to renovate the space formerly occupied by 601 Sports and Save-A-Lot at 840 Brookway Boulevard.
Five-Below gave an update Friday morning in an email response sharing little details. A spokesperson for the company said they did not see plans for a Five-Below in Brookhaven, however, “this could be because the plan hasn’t been finalized yet and the list has yet to be updated.”
Starbucks gave similar answers when asked about the coffee shop coming to Brookhaven before it opened. In fact, it was Fearn who had to confirm the company was planning to build in Brookhaven.
