WEST LINCOLN — Volunteer firefighters worked to save a home from a fire Thursday afternoon. Smoke was light and the fire was contained to the front left corner of the home made of heart pine.

No one was injured in the fire.

The house fire call was reported shortly after noon Thursday at 2278 US84 West. East Lincoln, Hog Chain, Loyd Star, East Franklin and Zetus Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene.

“We were called to a structure fire and feel like it was contained to a wash room and attic,” Zetus Fire Chief Dale Anding said. “Good effort from all the volunteers who showed up to save what was left.”

Loyd Star Volunteer Fire Department’s Collin Bingham was first on scene and was able to do a complete 360 walk around the home to size up the building. He along with Loyd Star’s Heath Haas and Timmy Nations worked to extinguish the fire.

“I saw light smoke around the edges and visible fire through the door,” Bingham said.

Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency Director Chris Reid was on scene to help coordinate the firefighting effort. KDMC had a unit on scene in case they were needed.

Firemen used a thermal imaging camera to look for potential hot spots and prevent the fire from reigniting. Everyone was clear-off the scene by 2 p.m.
