MCCOMB — Mississippi’s Education Fund is not the only winner from the Mississippi Lottery.
A woman from McComb won $2,000 in prize money according to the Mississippi Lottery Corporation Wednesday.
The woman bought a $20 scratch off ticket from B-Kwik #4 in McComb and won $2,000.
Mississippi Lottery Corporation recently announced the May lottery transfer to the state placed $9.4 million in the Education Enhancement Fund. The state brought in a total of $115,999,429.76 since July 1, 2023.
The end of June will be the end of the 2024 Fiscal Year. Each Fiscal Year, the first $85 million in net proceeds from the lottery goes towards roads and bridges. EEF gets the remaining proceeds. With one more month left, EEF received $35,999,429.76.
The EEF, which also receives other state money, is used for early learning collaboratives, early learning collaborative coaches, math coaches, the Teacher Supply Fund, upgrading the Mississippi Student Information System and career and technical education grants.
All of these numbers are contingent on a financial audit, the Mississippi Lottery Corporation states.
