Officials receive bids for garbage collection

BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Administrator Daniel Calcote and Brookhaven City Clerk Samantha Melancon opened sealed bids for garbage collection Monday afternoon. City and County garbage contracts with Arrow Disposal Services Inc. ends on September 30, 2024.
Whichever company is awarded the trash bid will start their contract on October 1, 2024. Lincoln County and Brookhaven officials took the bids under advisement Monday afternoon. Brookhaven’s Board of Aldermen will meet Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. and could discuss the bids further while the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors will not meet again until June 17, 2024.
Bids were initially opened for Lincoln County. Waste Management entered a six-year bid of $16.10 per unit, per month for Lincoln County and included a bid of $15.47 per unit per month if Brookhaven also awards the contract to Waste Management. Waste Management’s bids were given under the use of an automated side loader.
Arrow Disposal Service offered a variety of proposals. The first option was a base proposal for a three-year term which would be $14.94 per unit per month and the six year proposal would be $14.94 per unit per month with a rear loader. Alternatively, ADSI offered an automated side load proposal of $13.73 per unit per month for six and three-year terms.
Delta Waste Solutions, a company based in Jackson, made a bid of $25.50 per unit per month for a three year term and $23.95 per unit per month on a six year term with rear load. Waste pro declined to enter a bid for Lincoln County.
Waste Management’s bid for Brookhaven garbage collection started with a twice-a-week proposal of $20.33 per unit per month and a once a week proposal of $14.25 per unit per month. The bid is for automated side loader trucks.
Delta Waste Solutions bid for Brookhaven was $32.95 per unit per month for twice-a-week pickup and $23.95 per unit per month on once a week pickup. Bids from Delta Waste Solutions are for rear load trucks.
Arrow Disposal Services bid for Brookhaven for twice a week was $21.43 per unit per month and $14.94 per unit per month on once a week pickup with rear load trucks. An alternate proposal included automated side loader pickup for $19.37 per unit per month on a twice a week schedule and $12.73 per unit per month on a once a week schedule.
Waste Management and Waste Pro made the only bids for the transfer station. Waste Management’s bid was $54.39 per ton for residential non-hazardous waste and $62.50 for commercial non-hazardous waste.
Waste Pro’s bid was $124 per ton for residential and commercial non-hazardous waste.
