Local JSU alumni celebrate 50-plus years

More than 100 Brookhaven/Lincoln County Jackson State University alumni, supporters, and community members convened at the Lincoln Civic Center in Brookhaven on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 6 p.m. to recognize and celebrate esteemed 50-year-plus graduates from Jackson State University.
In a sea of various shades of blue and/or white attire and decorations, attendees and honorees enjoyed a program of reflection, connection, and progression from days at JSU. The guest speaker was Dr. Damian D. Thomas, JSU-MS Regional Vice President of Alumni Affairs, Executive Director of TRIO, and Professor of English at Hinds Community College, Utica Campus. Honorees were Johnnie Washington, Joseph Dickey, Charlestine Dillon Waterman, James Earl Diggs Sr., Fannie Diggs, Cora Bracy Edwards, Alexine Duncan Jordan, Mary Louise Wilson Smith, Lamar Barnes, Maxine Dillon, Stella Louise Hawkins Smith, and Linda Faye Crump. Honorees were presented with plaques, and a dinner buffet was served.
The Brookhaven/Lincoln County Chapter of JSUNAA expressed thanks to everyone who participated in making the event a success.
