One man has died after an armed robbery at Wesson Truck Stop just before midnight Tuesday.
The suspect carjacked a customer and shot him, and the man later died at the hospital.
“The offender left in the victim’s car and abandoned it a short distance later,” Copiah County Sheriff Byron Swilley said in a statement Wednesday morning. “At this time the offender is not in custody and more details will be released once the video footage is released.”
The victim has been identified by family members as Vince Ratliff of Wesson.
The public should assume the suspect is armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect should call the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office at 601-892-2023 or 9-1-1.
