Nathan Addison is well-known in the Brookhaven area as a foodie. His regular social media posts show off his prowess with both creating and displaying all types of edible masterpieces.
But Addison’s goal is not to just create food for his own enjoyment, or that of his online followers. After months of preparation and planning, he has announced the coming of “Addison’s” — a custom-built commercial kitchen on wheels.
“It’s a massive 8-1/2 by 30-foot food trailer that will allow multiple avenues to bring my unique food to you,” he wrote in a post announcing the business.
“The decision to start the journey with a mobile unit was the ability to introduce my food and passion to the public in various ways with fewer overhead costs, while reinvesting into the next chapter of opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant,” Addison said.
Addison said he will begin by providing scratch-made, restaurant quality, weekly meal preps, which will be delivered for free within a 7-mile radius with a minimum order. He has made agreements with some retail businesses to stock meals for easy pickup for anyone outside his delivery range.
“With simple online ordering, you’ll be able to see real pictures and descriptions of what you’ll be getting at great prices to save you money and time from buying groceries and providing for your family,” Addison said. “There will be five options to choose from weekly, and options will change weekly.”
The food trailer will not be available for walk-up orders during meal-prep days. But public pop-ups are also in the plans.
“I have signed agreements with locations on Brookway Boulevard and Hwy. 51. I’ll announce on social media, days in advance, where I’ll be and I’ll pull the trailer out to setup,” he said. “The menu for it will be limited but exciting, and always changing for new things to try.”
Down the road, Addison said he’ll start offering a “very unique, on-site, private fine dining” experience, which will provide a five-course restaurant experience. He also plans to offer catering services for weddings and other events.
Addison’s custom-ordered trailer is being professionally built, and is estimated to be complete in eight to 12 weeks.
“Once it arrives, the State has to give it a final inspection and it’ll be go-time,” he said.
Addison is looking to hire a couple of people to help with the work, and has posted information about the positions on www.facebook.com/addisonsbrookhaven
“I’ve always enjoyed cooking, creating, and learning new cuisines. The decision to venture into the food industry isn’t easy, but it’s been a longtime plan,” said Addison. “I’m at a point in my life that I’m able to take this risk. If I don’t do it now and follow my dream, then it may never happen. It’ll be a new ballgame compared to cooking for friends and family, but I just want to see people happy as food is a universal language that brings us all together.”
