BROOKHAVEN — Mississippi Legislature reached its first major deadline day Tuesday. Committees had to report general bills or constitutional amendments originating in their own house or the bills died. 

Lincoln County Rep. Becky Currie had 45 bills die in committee out of 58 pieces of legislation. Four of her bills made it to the senate or have been transmitted to the senate or are in the process and nine are either on the calendar or in committee. 

Lincoln County Rep. Vince Mangold had seven bills die in committee out of 23 pieces of legislation. Six of the surviving bills are in the senate or being transmitted to the senate and 10 are on the house calendar waiting on a vote or are still in committee. 

Lincoln County Sen. Jason Barrett introduced  33 pieces of legislation this year and nine of those died in committee. Two bills and a resolution made it to the Mississippi House of Representatives while the remaining 21 pieces of legislation are in committee or have been placed on the calendar.
