A Bogue Chitto wreck Sunday resulted in one death and multiple injuries.
At approximately 2 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a one-vehicle wreck on Pricedale Road.
A 2007 GMC truck ran off the road in a curve and struck a tree, according to Sheriff Steve Rushing. Three male passengers, ages 20-21, were injured and transported to area hospitals. Updated conditions of the injured are unknown at this time.
Another passenger, 18-year-old Titus Holmes of Bogue Chitto, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Blake Wallace. Holmes was a former Bobcats baseball player, and a 2023 graduate of Bogue Chitto Attendance Center.
The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Caleb Avants of Bogue Chitto, was not seriously injured. Avants was arrested, however, and charged with DUI causing death. Other charges may be pending, Sheriff Rushing said.
“This was a real tragic event,” said Rushing. “My thoughts and prayers go out to the families involved.”
