The Exchange Club of Brookhaven has selected Riley Cooper Murray of Alexander Jr. High as its January Youth of the Month.
At AJH, Murray is an honor roll student and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She is trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and was recently promoted to gray belt. She volunteers three nights each week at Pursuit Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Fitness, helping teach younger children’s classes.
Murray hopes to be a Junior Ambassador for the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce in the fall. She also wants to do more volunteer work with the Exchange Club and become a member one day. Murray plans to open her own gym eventually, teaching Jiu-Jitsu.
The daughter of Billy and Keri Herndon, and Jerry Murray, she attends Central Baptist Church where she is active in the youth group and helps with the younger children’s group.
