LOYD STAR — Backwoods 550 and Nutrition will soon close its doors. The food and nutrition business was built on the site where a popular steak and seafood restaurant once stood. A fire burned the restaurant called Backwoods Bayou.
Backwoods 550 and Backwoods Nutrition announced on Facebook it plans to close Friday due to unforeseen circumstances.
“We would like to thank all of our valued customers for your love and support. Please keep us and our dedicated employees in your prayers as we all begin a new chapter in our lives,” Backwoods 550 wrote. “A special thanks to Charlie Anna Lee, Kaylee Walker, Donna Criswell & Aubrey Boman.”
Backwoods 550 is located at 1811 MS 550 NW near Loyd Star Attendance Center. David and LaLinda Fortenberry owned the business. LaLinda Fortenberry said she is not sure what will be next but they have had a few offers from people wanting to purchase the business.
“We still have people asking us to build the restaurant back. We wish we could but it is not in the plan,” Fortenberry said. “We do thank those who supported us and came out and saw us. Thank you for all of the gracious comments both public and private since we made the announcement. We appreciate all of our customers.”
