BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Board of Supervisors quickly approved the minutes from last week, payroll and meal counts with little discussion before approving items brought forward by Lincoln County sheriff Steve Rushing Wednesday morning. He brought forward a contract with Summit Food Service, which provides the food for the Lincoln County Jail. Rushing said they have been with Summit since 2010. The renewal is done every year and covers the cost of food. Meals will go up about 14 cents under the contract.

“We adjusted our food costs for the increase in meals last year. They are the only company who does that and we are satisfied with them,” Rushing said. “We provide the work crews and they oversee the food costs. We keep the equipment and have a kitchen for them to cook on site.”

Supervisors approved the contract renewal. The board will tour the Lincoln County Jail next week following their regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday morning.
