Severe storms should arrive Saturday night

BROOKHAVEN — Severe storms are coming. National Weather Service in Jackson forecasts the weather to arrive in Northwest Lincoln County first Saturday.
Saturday has a 60 percent chance of rain with showers and thunderstorms most likely in the afternoon. Rain chances increase substantially into Saturday night with a 90 percent chance of rain. Precipitation amounts could be between 0.20 inches of rain to one inch with more expected in thunderstorms.
Sunday through Thursday will be nice and sunny.
NWS Jackson warns the rain Saturday is not the only weather activity. Severe storms bring the rain and could produce damaging wind gusts and hail. Northwest Lincoln County is at the greatest risk with a slight risk of severe weather where as the rest of the county has a marginal risk.
Hail in the storm could be a quarter to golf ball sized hail and tornadoes are possible. Winds will start out to be 10 to 20 mph and intensify as the day goes on Saturday. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph during the evening.
Severe storms should arrive between 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Northwest Lincoln County and then 9p.m. to 3 a.m. in the rest of the county.
