Beginning to look a lot like Christmas Open House

BROOKHAVEN — Christmas is over a month away but Christmas Open House offers retailers and shoppers a chance to get in the holiday spirit Saturday. Brookhaven will transform into a winter wonderland Saturday, one might need to imagine cooler temperatures, to start the holiday season.
Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce has celebrated Christmas Open House for the past 30 plus years. Retailers can shop at 28 participating retailers for discounts and refreshments from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Katie Nations, Chamber of Commerce Program Director, said people do not have to buy tickets for the event like they would for Girls Night Out. She encouraged shoppers to check store hours for any participating retailers.
“We encourage the community to shop locally throughout the region this holiday season,” Nations said. “Save your receipts at any participating retailer and bring them to the chamber and drop them in a drop box on the front porch for a drawing. Each week we will do a $100 drawing and on Christmas there will be a $500 drawing sponsored by the Bank of Brookhaven.”
2023 Miss Merry Christmas Anna Grace Buitt will make appearances around town during the open house Saturday. Buitt is a Brookhaven High School alumnus and a current student at Mississippi College. Nations said Junior Ambassadors will also be at the retailers.
If you are unsure if a retailer is participating in Christmas Open House check for the Santa Shops Here signs. Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce will host a music event downtown Saturday night.
Lincoln Outfit will perform on the stage in front of the cabin in Railroad Park from 7 to 9 p.m Saturday. People are welcome to stop by the chamber and register for the Christmas Parade on November 30 which starts at 6:30 p.m.
“Our local retailers work tirelessly throughout the year to bring their shoppers the best experience possible,” Nations said. “Christmas Open House is a great time for us as a community to commit to shopping locally all holiday season long. We hope you will do just that by shopping in Brookhaven and visiting our local boutiques to see all the newest holiday and winter merchandise.”
