Halfway through the storms, power still out in town

BROOKHAVEN — The sun is rising on a hazy and muggy Thursday morning illuminating the little damage suffered by Wednesday’s storms. Lincoln County is half way through a series of predicted storms and many are waiting on power to be restored.
Entergy reports 756 customers are without power in Lincoln County and just 48 customers in Copiah are without power. Southwest Electric reports 259 customers are without power this morning in Lincoln County and 283 customers are without power in Copiah County. Magnolia Electric reports 501 customers are still without power but power has been restored to 76 customers.
Girls Night Out is scheduled for tonight just in time for more potential severe weather. Brookhaven and the surrounding area is under a slight risk this evening for severe weather producing 70 mph wind gusts, hail quarter to golf ball size and tornadoes can not be ruled out. The chance of rain today is 70 percent with heat index values hitting 102.
National Weather Service in Jackson gives the same severe storm outlook for the area Friday and warns of a marginal risk of storms on Saturday.
