BROOKHAVEN — A new subdivision is in the works for Lincoln County. Tabitha Speights spoke before the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors urging them to make their private road a public road for the subdivision development. Her husband Ryan Speights had made a similar request at the May 15 meeting.
County Engineer Ryan Holmes said there were a few details needed to be fixed in the plat of the land, essentially the map showing divisions of the land. Speights said they have sold seven lots so far on the property located on Mallalieu road. It is located south of US84.
Holmes said he plans to get with Bruce Ham who is leading the work on the subdivision this week. Speights told the board it was important they get the road made public so people could get addresses ahead of enrolling their child for the school year.
“People are pushing us for answers. They are thinking about school and enrolling their kids,” Speights said.
The board told her people could get addresses when she files a petition for a private road. The board plans to make it a public road once all the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed.
“We have not had a subdivision in quite a while. We are in the process of getting a formal procedure together to expedite things,” Holmes said. “We have not had a subdivision in four years. We are diligently working on a written document to outline what is going on. It won’t be a problem to pass. We are just here to protect the public interest.”
Piney Magnolia Estates will have a covenant.
