Power outages effect customers in Southwest Mississippi

BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County and much of South Mississippi is under a severe thunderstorm watch right now according to the National Weather Service in Jackson. Thunderstorms have knocked out power in the region affecting some customers.
Magnolia Electric reports an outage affecting 12 customers off of Johnson Grove Road in Lincoln County. Southwest Electric reports 692 customers are without power in Copiah County which is 27 percent of the customers there. Franklin County has 107 customers without power from Southwest Electric.
Entergy customers in Lincoln County or Copiah County have not been impacted. Franklin County shows one Entergy customer without power currently.
Severe storms could remain a threat into the night. NWS Jackson warns of strong wind gusts getting to 60 mph and quarter size hail for the region until 10 p.m. Storms could return to the area Monday before the scorching heat of a Mississippi summer returns.
