Pike School of Art could benefit from NASCAR Foundation event

For four days, The NASCAR Foundation will present grants to various participating charities. Pike School of Art—Mississippi, in Summit, could be one of those beneficiaries.
PSA-MS presents public programs to promote its goal to be a space for interdisciplinary creative experimentation. PSA-MS has partnered with the City of McComb and the McComb School District to provide free after-school art workshops for school-aged children at Martin Luther King Park.
The NASCAR Foundation’s NASCAR Day Giveathon — created in honor of the racing organization’s 75th anniversary — is an effort to provide much-needed funds to the communities “where we live, work and race,” according to the foundation’s website.
The event begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, and concludes at 8 p.m. Friday, May 19. The goal is to raise as much money and awareness as possible for local nonprofits in one event.
NASCAR and Speedway Motorsports will randomly award one $750 bonus grant every hour during the Giveathon. Charities and randomly selected and must have received a minimum donation of $25 during that hour to be eligible for the bonus. Donations will be matched up to $750 per gift.
Various incentives will be offered for donors as the event progresses.
Nationwide, 833 charities are participating. There are nine participating charities in Mississippi — Pike School of Art, in Summit; Growing Up Knowing, in Jackson; Operation Shoestring Inc., Jackson; Columbus-Lowndes Humane Society, Columbus; Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation, Coldwater; North Mississippi Exchange Family Center, Oxford; End It For Good Inc., Ridgeland; Mississippi Cultural Crossroads, Port Gibson; and MS Delta Academies, Greenwood.
