Rain, rain, will not go away, will come back again Thursday

BROOKHAVEN — Sunshine is supposed to bring May flowers after April showers but this week has been a wet one. Heavy rainfall has wrecked havoc on scheduled MHSAA baseball and softball playoff games with the most recent victim being Loyd Star’s game three against Lake Tuesday night. Wednesday has ominous rain bearing clouds moving across the area.
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday afternoon has a 60 percent chance of rain with a high of 84 and a low this evening of 67. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms are possible after 9 p.m. and patchy fog will be around Thursday morning after 5 a.m.
A 60 percent chance of rain returns Thursday with showers and thunderstorms possible before noon. Rain will threaten again in the afternoon but the National Weather Service in Jackson warns of severe storms Thursday afternoon.
Hail up to a quarter size and damaging wind gusts are the expected threats with isolated severe storms forecast for Thursday afternoon. These storms could hit the area between 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursday night will be mostly cloudy but Friday brings back a 50 percent chance of rain.
