It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernest Stevens Blaise. He died peacefully in Camarillo, CA surrounded by his loving family on 18th of March at the age of 91. Born and raised in Brookhaven, MS, he had a lifelong love for Brookhaven. He was quarterback for the Brookhaven High School Panthers football team where he held the record for most touchdowns in a game for many years. Ernest led a long and fulfilling life. He was a beloved husband, cherished father, and adored grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Ernest was an accomplished man who lived his life with honor and integrity. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War, worked for Mississippi Power and Light, then in the Civil Service at Pt. Mugu Naval Test Range. Throughout his life, Ernest remained committed to his family and his faith. He was preceded in death by his mother LouVella Stevens Blaise, father Ernest Joseph Blaise and sisters, Elise Kuhn, Birdie Ratcliff and Joanne Strawbridge. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Leonora Blades, whom he was married to for 72 years. He was a loving father who raised his children, daughters Sandra Pack and her husband Richard and Denise Pannell and her husband Joseph, and son Scott Blaise and his wife Katherine, with kindness and compassion. He was a proud grandfather and adored his many grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Robert Earl Blaise and wife Opal of Brookhaven, along with many nieces and nephews. The light of our lives has been dimmed, but his warm heart will be remembered for the rest of our lives. A memorial service will be held at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, Chapel of the Islands, March 31 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Feeding America charity or your local food bank.
