The Lincoln County Board of Supervisors heard Monday that the $8 million Special Obligation Bond is finally — finally — on its way.

Created by the State Treasury, the bond is a special fund “designed [as] the 2021 Lincoln County Road and Bridge Repair Fund.” The monies are deposited at the discretion of the Department of Finance and Administration to assist the board of Lincoln County in costs associated with road and bridge repairs, the state bill stated.

“We’ll have the funds available by the end of the month,” County Administrator Daniel Calcote told relieved board members, who have waited way more than a year for the funds to hit county accounts.

The supervisors have been waiting on the dispersal of funds to carry out many of the road and bridge projects not being repaired or replaced by the American Rescue Act Plan.

In other business, the board approved or acknowledged the following:

• A commitment letter with Trustmark for the $8 million bond
• Various department requests for conference travel
• Advertising by District 1 for financing the purchase of a tractor and mower. An estimate for the purchase is $86,942.12.
• A grant agreement with MDEQ for the county’s Solid Waste Grant in the amount of $30,635.85. Supervisors briefly discussed changing the way the county schedules drop-off days for residents.
• Culvert installations in all districts except for District 1.
• Meal county sheets at the jail and inventory sheets for the county
• A visit from Canopy Children’s Solutions representatives Dorothy Butler and Kim Ford
• A Solid Waste prepaid amount of $121.33 for a resident who has moved to a nursing facility
• Continuing education for a dispatcher
• A computer system for Circuit Court to aid attorneys, witnesses and judges
