Strong winds added to Tuesday forecast

BROOKHAVEN — Severe Storms are not enough for Tuesday. NWS Jackson warns there is an elevated risk of strong winds which could pose a threat to Lincoln County and the surrounding area. The winds could hit Tuesday morning into evening.
Sustained winds are forecast to hit speeds up to 25-to-35 mph and gusts could be between 40 and 50 mph. It is possible there will be downed trees and powerlines so be careful while driving and prepare for any possible outages. Strong winds make travel for high-profile vehicles dangerous so be mindful.
Additionally, the NWS Jackson is forecasting severe weather to occur Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. This storm is several days away so people should stay weather aware and check back here for updates. Tornadoes and severe storms could hit Lincoln County, the top half is at a slight risk while the bottom half is at marginal risk.
Tuesday has a 90 percent chance of rain with wind speeds blowing between 15 to 20 mph. Gusts of wind could hit near 30 mph Tuesday. The high will be 64 with a low around 38. It will be windy, the NWS Jackson office forecasts.
Saturday has an 80 percent chance of rain but the wind will not be as bad as Tuesday’s weather.
