Published 4:00 pm Wednesday, November 30, 2022
Anyone needing a driver license or identification card can do it on a Saturday this December.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is kicking off the holiday season by expanding hours of operation in the driver service bureaus. Extended hours will include three Saturdays in December — 3, 10 and 17 — from 8 a.m. until noon at select offices.
The office at 160 Hwy. 84 E in Brookhaven is one of those offices. Others are located in Jackson (headquarters), Batesville, Biloxi, Columbus, Gautier, Greenwood, Hattiesburg, Meridian, Nesbit, New Albany, Pearl, Starkville and Tupelo.
Saturday visits will be by appointment only, however. Appointments must be scheduled by visited www.dps.ms.gov/appointment.
Saturday services will include first-time regular driver licenses and ID cards, as well as renewals and duplicates; learner’s permit testing; reinstatements; Commercial Driver’s License renewals and duplicates only (no CDL road tests); as well as firearm permits.
