“I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:2

How quickly have we, supposed Preachers and teachers of the Gospel, lost our way and begun teaching “our own message” rather than the “Great Commission” that was handed down over two thousand years ago by the Christ Himself. How is it even conceivable that we have reduced the life changing, soul saving message of Jesus Who died for it’s integrity, to a series of “deep” theological explanations and denominational rhetoric designed to fill the listener with respect for the one so proudly sharing “from his heart”? There is precious little of Jesus in modern day sermons for the unbeliever to have more than a passing chance at clutching the hem of His blood stained garment as he strains to “see the light” of salvation in the midst of the darkness and confusion surrounding the morning message.

How quickly too, have we loosed into the fray multitudes of those who were never “sent” developing their own “gospel” and doctrines to suit the “needs” of their flock. All the while millions of “Church” folk are confused and lulled into a false sense of security where they believe whatever they are told from the pulpit. The message has become about “being good” (impossible) instead of being like Jesus (which is what being a disciple [talmudim] means).

All preaching and teaching that has not at its foundation the message of Jesus to “follow Me”, is just so much fluff and hot air. That is our mission if we are called and anointed to do so. Let’s stop preaching ourselves and tell the world about a Crucified Jesus Who stands at the ready to give all of us the rest He promises. The lost of our world don’t need our autobiography or resume, they need to hear about Jesus!
