Lisa Hawkins-Day, Albert Day and Andre Branch announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter, Alicia Hawkins, of Brookhaven, to Shavikia Gaines, of Midland, Texas.

Gaines is the son of Linda Gaines and Ike Frye.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Lizzie Day, Alvin and Melvina Hawkins, Leola Carson and James Cornelius Pointer.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mary Cook and Mary Lee Frye.

Hawkins is a 2004 graduate of Brookhaven High School and a 2009 graduate of Alcorn State University, with a degree in biology/health science. She is employed in healthcare.

Gaines is a 2007 graduate of Jefferson County High School, and studied physical education at Alcorn State University. He is employed as a haz-driver.

Hawkins and Gaines will share four children — Anthony, Jailyn, Elijah and Aiden.

The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, in Jackson, Mississippi.
