An elevated risk of dangerous heat stress conditions exists for much of Mississippi Wednesday, including Lincoln County.
The elevated risk issued by the National Weather Service indicates high temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s and heat indices of 106 to 110 degrees. Heat exhaustion is likely with prolonged outdoor activity.
A marginal risk of isolated severe thunderstorms has also been indicated for the area Wednesday afternoon. The primary threat is damaging wind gusts. Storms are expected to move into and through the area from about 1 p.m. until around 7 p.m.
NWS Jackson predicts at least a 75 percent chance of rain and storms across most of Southwest Mississippi during that time.
