Traffic is flowing through a repaired railroad crossing in downtown Brookhaven.
Repair work was completed Thursday morning, ahead of schedule. Repairs were projected to last through Friday.
Canadian National Railroad crews finished their repairs around 11 a.m. Thursday.
Broken rails and substructure caused a freight train to derail in downtown Brookhaven Tuesday morning around 8 a.m. A derailment is when the train’s wheels are not evenly and safely connected with the rails.
Portions of the track came apart in the crossing of Monticello Street, causing the train to have to stop until the damage could be fully assessed and properly addressed.
