A student-led performance celebrating Black History Month will be presented for the community at The Mississippi School of the Arts Feb. 17.

The 7 p.m. performance in Enochs Black Box Theatre, “4EVA BLK,” includes historical information and commentary on the black experience as from the perspective of today’s youth. Students will showcase work from historic figures as well as original artistic content by the MSA students. From the importance of identity, to a person’s hair, the performers will bring a show that both entertains and speaks to the human condition in the black community.

MSA’s Visual Arts Department invites the public to enjoy a special exhibition in the Enochs Gallery before or after the show, recognizing Black History Month. See works of art by junior and senior visual students, along with their instructors, Maurice Calvert and Brittany Horne. Featured guest artists to the exhibition also include Sabrina Howard, Robin Martéa and Shambé Jones.

The performance and showcase are free. Due to COVID-19 protocols, masks are required when inside the art gallery and at the performance.
