City of Brookhaven officials take oaths of office

Newly elected and re-elected officials for the City of Brookhaven took their oaths of office Monday morning.

Joined by family members, the aldermen, mayor and police chief appeared before Lincoln County Chancery Court Judge Joseph Durr Monday morning to be officially sworn in to their respective offices.

After swearing in Mayor Joe Cox and Police Chief Kenneth Collins, Judge Durr administered oaths to aldermen by order of ward, concluding with alderman-at-large.

Taking oaths were: Mayor Joe C. Cox, Police Chief Kenneth Collins, Ward 1 Alderman James Magee Jr., Ward 2 Alderman Shannon Moore, Ward 3 Alderman the Rev. Charles Caston Sr., Ward 5 Alderman Fletcher Grice, Ward 6 Alderman Andre’ Spiller and Alderman-at-Large Don Underwood.

Newly-elected Ward 4 Alderman Jeff Henning was unable to attend Monday’s swearing-in ceremony. His oath was administered on June 22 due to his anticipated absence.
