James E. Williams III

James E. Williams III, “Jimmy,” aged 69, a native of Lincoln County, Mississippi, died on February 2nd after battling cancer. Mr. Williams was the son of Dr. James E. Williams Jr., and Helen Durkin Williams, of Brookhaven, also deceased. After graduating from Brookhaven High, Jimmy studied at Ole Miss, earning a degree in Business Administration. In 1977, Jimmy enlisted in the Navy, serving well and faithfully for eight years as a submariner. Once his Navy commitment was satisfied, he returned to Brookhaven, working as the information systems and business manager for The James Herndon Optometrist Clinic until his retirement in 2015. Jimmy was a good friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He loved the State of Mississippi, Brookhaven and Ole Miss. He is survived by one sister, JoAnn Williams Cornelius of Taft, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. Jimmy will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookhaven, time and date to be determined. Only immediate family will attend his funeral service.
