Lincoln County has had 115 new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus reported in the past week and no new related deaths. The county’s totals are now 3,795 cases and 104 deaths, according to data published Friday by the Mississippi State Department of Health.
With 392 new cases and seven new deaths reported Friday morning, MSDH has recorded 302,316 reported COVID-19 cases to date — 186,205 confirmed and 116,111 probable. The state’s health agency has also received reports of 6,945 fatalities — 4,822 confirmed linked to the virus and 2,123 with probable links.
Confirmed cases and deaths are generally determined by positive PCR tests, which detect the presence of ongoing coronavirus infection.
Probable cases are those who test positive by other testing methods such as antibody or antigen, and have recent symptoms consistent with COVID-19, indicating a recent infection.
Probable deaths are those individuals with a designation of COVID-19 as a cause of death on the death certificate, but where no confirmatory testing was performed.
MSDH presumes 287,341 people have recovered from positive cases of coronavirus as of March 15, since tracking began in March 2020.
As of Thursday — MSDH’s most recent hospitalization data — 270 persons were in Mississippi hospitals with confirmed cases of the virus and 46 with suspected infections. There were 72 patients in intensive care units and 41 on ventilators.
