The annual Spring Fest and Fair hosted by the Lincoln Civic Center is on schedule.
Last year, the Spring Fest and Fair was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, residents will be able to eat fair food and ride all of the rides.
LCC Director Quinn Jordan said the fair is scheduled for April 1-4, a Thursday through Sunday. He said he is still discussing details with the LCC commission and Mitchell Brothers Amusement Company.
“We will have the event with social distancing and hand sanitizer stations,” Jordan said. “It will be spaced out just like the state fair in Jackson, with so many people per acre.”
The goal for the civic center is to follow guidelines from the governor’s office and the state fair commission.
“If they were able to hold the state fair, we felt like it was safe enough to bring the fair back to Brookhaven,” Jordan said.
As for masks, Jordan said they will be following guidelines from the governor’s office at the time of the fair.
Jordan said the rides will be sanitized between uses, and that fair goers can expect the same rides and food stands. The main difference will be that everything will be more spread out.
Jordan hopes residents will come and enjoy themselves.
“People are looking for things to do with their families and we want to provide a safe family environment for them to do that,” Jordan said.
