County and state coronavirus cases continue to climb.

Lincoln County has reported 54 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday — for a total of 2,216 — as the state reports 1,648 new cases Monday.

After four days of new cases ranging from 2,283 to 2,746 daily, Mississippi State Department of Health reported 1,500 new virus cases Sunday.

MSDH reported five new fatalities Monday and 218 active long-term care facility outbreaks.

Lincoln County’s death total of 71 remains unchanged, as do the 166 LTC facility cases and 36 LTC facility deaths.

The state has now recorded 181,095 cases of coronavirus and 4,204 deaths.

The most recent hospital reports show 1,164 patients hospitalized as of Friday with confirmed COVID-19 infections, 298 in intensive care units and 178 on ventilators. Another 100 patients were hospitalized with suspected infections.
