A hunting products company wants a tax break from the county.

Anthony Foster of Primos Hunting Products appeared before the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors at its regular meeting Monday.

“(Primos) is a great company that’s been in Lincoln County for a long time,” Garrick said. “They’ve experienced some growth lately and their attorney has sent copies for a tax exemption due to that growth.”

Foster came before the board to request a free port warehouse tax exemption, which would exclude Primos’ warehouse from ad valorem taxes due to their products being shipped out of state.

“We’ve had some ups and downs with the economy,” Foster said. “But the last four years have been good for us with growth.”

The company started in Flora, but expanded to Brookhaven. Foster said the company is employing 60 employees right now.

“His company has to decide whether to invest in Lincoln County or somewhere else,” Combs said. “What we do to help our local industry is we give them the best return on their investment as we can. It’s so we can make his facility look more appealing.”

After the board discussed the topic with board attorney Will Allen, the board voted to take the decision under advisement so Allen could examine Primos’ documents further.

“I don’t think there’s going to be a problem, but I’d like to look over what their attorney sent over first.”
