Brookhaven Animal Rescue League has received a Rachael Ray Save Them All COVID-19 Relief Grant from Best Friends Animal Society. The $4,000 grant will ensure that BARL continues to help save the lives of homeless pets in Lincoln, Copiah and Franklin counties.
“This grant allows us to continue our lifesaving work by helping us fund some of the veterinary care for our animals, said BARL Board President Rusty Adcock.
BARL is an active partner in the Best Friends Network, which offers resources and support to fellow shelters, rescue groups and animal welfare organizations across the country.
“When you choose to foster or adopt your next pet, you are becoming part of the solution right here in our community,” Adcock said. “And community is more important than ever right now.”
In order to apply for the grant, BARL had to meet strict guidelines set by Best Friends Network. BARL is a non-profit, volunteer-based animal welfare organization that provides food, shelter and veterinary services for homeless animals until they are adopted. All BARL animals are vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Dogs are also micro-chipped.
Best Friends Animal Society partners with more than 2,800 animal welfare groups nationwide, and has helped reduce the number of animals killed annually in shelters from 17 million to approximately 733,000. The Rachel Ray Foundation, which funds the Save Them All grants, is funded by a portion of proceeds from each sale of Nutrish pet food.
Anyone interested in adopting, contributing or volunteering through BARL should call 601-757-4367 or email info@barl.net. Donations are tax deductible and can be mailed to BARL at P.O. Box 3477, Brookhaven, MS 39603. Some of the animals available for adoption can be viewed at www.barl.net.
