COLUMBUS (AP) — A Mississippi man has died after losing control of his car and crashing into an ambulance, according to a county coroner.
John Ford, 59, lost control of his car early Saturday and hit a Noxubee County ambulance that was carrying a patient, Lowndes County coroner Greg Merchant told The Commercial Dispatch. No one in the ambulance was injured in the crash, he said.
Ford was conscious at the scene and later died at a hospital from injuries sustained in the crash, Merchant said.
“We’re continuing to investigate, but based on what was reported at the scene, the driver had some sort of medical emergency causing him to lose control of his vehicle,” Merchant said.
It’s unclear how the crash affected the transportation of the ambulance’s patient.
