A mother and four children were injured in a one-vehicle accident in Lincoln County early Tuesday morning.

Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said a 2004 GMC Envoy driven by Jennifer Davis of Ruth veered off Big Creek Drive out west of Bogue Chitto around 7:30 a.m. and struck a tree, injuring Davis and all four of the children who were passengers in the vehicle. All five occupants were transported to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

Two of the children — aged 9, 6, 3 and 3 — sustained serious injuries and were transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Their conditions are not known.
