GONZALES, La. (AP) — Police in Louisiana are investigating the death of a truck driver who was found injured under his tractor-trailer.

The Advocate reports officers responding to a 911 call found 57-year-old Ernie Guillard of Baton Rouge lying beneath his tanker trailer at an exit ramp along Interstate 10 in Gonzales. He died at a hospital two days later on June 13.

Gonzales police say the driver suffered significant injuries to his legs and upper body and the 18-wheeler’s trailer had a tire blown out. Guillard worked as a driver for Dupre Logistics.

Lt. Steven Nethken said police suspect Nethken was struck by a passing vehicle and investigators are asking for any witnesses to come forward with information.
