Junior Ambassadors promote Brookhaven-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce

The 2018 Junior Ambassadors — formerly known as Les’ Belles de Hospitalite’ — will soon begin their duties as the Christmas season is kicked off by the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. Serving as ambassadors to the business community, this group of young women work to make sure Chamber events go smoothly.
Each Junior Ambassador must be a ninth-grade student and reside in Lincoln County.
Marin Elizabeth Anding attends Brookhaven Academy, where she is a member of Positive Choices Club, Science Club, History Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Jr. High cheer squad, soccer team, tennis team and track team. Honors include National Junior Honor Society, honor roll, January student of the month and highest average in pre-algebra. She attends Faith Presbyterian Church where she assists in weekly music worship.
Riley Claire Barker is the daughter of Richard and Sandy Barker. She attends Brookhaven High School, where she is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, participated in the homecoming production, serves as student council representative, is a varsity cheerleader and a Showstoppers competitive dancer. She was voted most beautiful in the Jr. High Ole Brook Pageant 2017. She is a member of First Baptist Church.
Cara Elizabeth Bowman is the daughter of Jason and Monica Bowman. She attends West Lincoln Attendance Center, where she is a member of the Senior Beta Club and a varsity cheerleader. Honors include honor roll and All-A’s recognition for English, American history and ICT II. She is a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Gillian Elizabeth Boyd is the daughter of Michelle Arnold and Eric Boyd. She attends Brookhaven Academy where she is a member of Positive Choices Club, History Club and a cheerleader. Honors include Junior National Honor Society, student of the month and honor roll. She is a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.
Allison Leah Covington is the daughter of Gary and Lisa Covington. She attends Brookhaven Academy where she is a member of Positive Choices Club, History Club, Science Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, girls basketball team, track team, diamond girl, statistician for boys basketball and class representative. Honors include Mississippi Junior Scholar, All-As honor roll and student of the month. She is a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Emily Elise Cray is the daughter of Ivan and Lisa Cray. She attends West Lincoln Attendance Center where she is a member of Future Farmers of America, soccer team, dance team and cross country. Honors include Senior Beta Club, honor roll, highest academic average in English, best all-around female cross country and outstanding dancer. She is a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Kassidy Brooke Cupit is the daughter of Brad and Amy Cupit. She attends Brookhaven Academy where she is a member of Science Club, History Club, Positive Choices Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, tennis team and track. Honors include Junior National Honor Society, All-As, Mississippi Junior Scholar, multiple subject area awards, class president, student of the month and All-American cheerleader. She is a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Hayley Kathryn Freeny is the daughter of Trey and Tracy Freeny. She attends Brookhaven Academy where she is a member of Junior Historical Society, Science Club, Positive Choices Club, softball, basketball, track and cheerleader. Honors include Junior Honor Society. She is a member of First Baptist Church.
Jena Lynn Hughes is the daughter of Chris and Christie Hughes. She attends West Lincoln Attendance Center where she is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, basketball team, fast pitch softball team, slow pitch softball team and junior high cheerleader. Honors include most valuable defensive player in basketball, honor roll and All-As. She is a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Jona Lea Hughes is the daughter of Chris and Christie Hughes. She attends West Lincoln Attendance Center where she is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, basketball team, fast pitch softball team, slow pitch softball team and junior high cheerleader. Honors include All-American National Cheer Association, Senior Beta Club, Honor roll and All-As. She is a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Candace Makera Johnson is the daughter of Kayra Johnson. She attends Brookhaven High School where she is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Book Club and golf team. Honors include 4.0 GPA, enrollment in accelerated math and biology, two-time recipient of MacDowell Music Club scholarship and inductee into Nena Smith School of Dance Hall of Fame. She is a member of Hazlehurst United Methodist Church.
Madeline Grace King is the daughter of Owen and Beth King. She attends Brookhaven High School where she is a member of the student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, tennis team and soccer team. Honors include Mississippi Scholar, Junior High Honor Society, straight As, Lions Club most beautiful and Alexander Junior High most beautiful.
Lorelai Yvette Langley is the daughter of Marty and Rachel Langley. She attends West Lincoln Attendance Center where she is a member of Future Farmers of America and dance. Honors include Senior Beta Club, Honor roll (All-As), citizenship award, student of the month and year and highest academic average in math, history, English, science and ICT. She is a member of Easthaven Baptist Church.
Makayla Ann Martin is the daughter of Brad and Amber Martin. She attends Brookhaven Academy where she is a member of Positive Choices Club, Book Club, Science Club, History Club, softball team, tennis team, basketball team and track team. Honors include Junior National Honor Society, honors English, highest average in reading, class vice president, highest honors on Headmaster’s List and top 95 percent in science on ACT Aspice. She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Maggie Elisabeth Newman is the daughter of Jamie and Jennifer Newman. She attends West Lincoln Attendance Center where she is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, softball team, cheerleader, basketball team and a diamond girl. Honors include honor roll, citizenship award and outstanding achievement in English. She is a member of Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church.
Abigail Rose Peavey is the daughter of Michael Peavey. She attends Brookhaven High School where she was in the Red Nation homecoming production. She has played piano for years, participates in school choir and helped with Brookhaven Little Theater’s drama camp. She is a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.
Marlee M. Rogers is the daughter of Duane and Kim Rogers. She attends Loyd Star Attendance Center where she is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, student council and class officer. Honors include Beta Club, A-B honor roll, student of the month, highest average in Technology Foundations and history. She is a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Katie Sproles is the daughter of Tommy and JoAnna Sproles. She attends Brookhaven High School where she is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, class representative and homecoming cast member. Honors include A-B Honor roll and Youth Advisory Board for Generation Free MS. She is a member of Easthaven Baptist Church.
Kayci Beth Wallace is the daughter of Kenneth and Dana Wallace. She attends Bogue Chitto Attendance Center where she is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, cheerleader, soccer team, basketball team, slow pitch and fast pitch softball team. Honors include principal’s list, highest GPA award, highest average in core subjects, regional math competition winner, Woodmen of the World history award, Beta Club, softball rookie of the year, state champs fast pitch softball team, class favorite and reading fair winner. She is a member of Montgomery Baptist Church.
