A Brookhaven couple is giving up a day’s profit from their business to help the orphans who have touched their hearts.

Casa de Fe Day at Scrub-a-Dub Carwash will be Sunday. The carwash is located at 308 Brookhaven St. All money raised through the car wash from 12:01 a.m. to midnight will be donated to the orphanage in Shell, Ecuador. Casa de Fe was founded by Patti Sue Arnold, a former member of First Baptist Church Brookhaven.

The carwash’s owners, Andrew and Karen Hickman, recently returned from their second trip to Ecuador where they helped with construction projects at the orphanage. Their son, Will Hickman, went along for his first trip there. The Hickman family was part of the FBC mission trip.

Andrew Hickman said the first time they went was an eye-opening experience.

“It definitely changed our lives,” he said. “It was definitely rewarding. We realized how much we have here that we take for granted.”

That’s why the Hickmans decided to give up whatever money they make from the car wash Sunday to send to Arnold at Casa de Fe.

“One hundred percent will go to the orphanage for that entire day,” Hickman said.

The Express, which is usually closed on Sundays, will be open 1-5 p.m.

Hickman said donations will also be accepted Sunday for the orphanage.
