Several individuals are scheduled for arraignment hearings before Lincoln County Circuit Judge David Strong Aug. 3 on drug charges.

An arraignment is a criminal proceeding at which the defendant is called before the court and informed of the offense charged in the complaint or indictment and asked to enter a plea.

Some of those who will appear have been charged with simple possession, others with possession and intent or conspiracy to sell.

• Justin D. Washington has been charged with possession of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of cocaine.

• Stacie P. Todd was charged with possession of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of methamphetamine.

• James Colt Rancifer is charged with possession of at least two but less than 10 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute; possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of at least two but less than 10 doses of Alprazolam with intent to distribute; and possession of at least 10 but less than 20 doses of hydrocodone.

• Garry J. Byrd is charged with possession of at least 30 grams but less than 250 grams of marijuana with intent to distribute, enhanced by possession of a firearm.

• Willie C. Gates is charged with conspiracy to sell controlled substances; possession of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of cocaine; and possession of at least 20 but less than 40 doses of methylphenidate.

• Willie T. Smith will be arraigned on the charge of sale of more than one-tenth but less than two grams of cocaine.

• Natasha N. Smith will be arraigned on the charge of sale of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of methamphetamine within 1,500 feet of a church.

• Jimmy L. Townes is charged with conspiracy to sell methamphetamine, and the sale of at least two but less than 10 grams of methamphetamine.

• James B. Lewis is to be arraigned on charges of conspiracy to distribute marijuana, and possession of more than 30 grams but less than 1 kilogram of marijuana with intent to distribute.

• Garrick Harris is charged with sale of cocaine; sale of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of cocaine; and sale of less than 30 grams of marijuana.

The following have been scheduled for trial on Oct. 17 on drug charges:

• Alonzo J. Haines — sale of at least 10 but less than 20 doses of methamphetamine; sale of less than two grams of cocaine; and sale of less than 10 doses of methamphetamine within 1,500 feet of a church.

• Terry L. Easter — conspiracy to possess a controlled substance.

• Lavoris D. Smith — sale of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of cocaine within 1,500 feet of a public park; possession of more than 30 but less than 250 grams of marijuana.

• Byron L. Richardson — sale of at least 10 but less than 20 doses of methylphenidate; conspiracy to sell controlled substances; possession of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of cocaine; possession of at least 20 but less than 40 doses of methyphenidate.

• Lisa Leann Carr — conspiracy to possess a controlled substance.

• Robert L. Windmiller — unlawful distribution of less than 10 doses of Hydrocodone.

• Brandy Mayberry — sale of more than 10 but less than 20 doses of Oxycodone within 1,500 feet of a church; sale of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of methamphetamine within 1,500 feet of a church.

• Robert L. Jackson — possession of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of methamphetamine; possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana; possession of firearm by felon; possession of less than 100 doses of nandrolene decanoate.

• Markesha V. Crossley — conspiracy to sell oxycodone; sale of less than 10 doses of oxycodone; conspiracy to sell controlled substances; possession of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of cocaine; possession of at least 20 but less than 40 doses of methylphenidate.

• Devin L. Dixon — conspiracy to sell controlled substances; possession of at least one-tenth but less than two grams of cocaine; possession of at least 20 but less than 40 doses of methylphenidate; sale of more than one-tenth but less than two grams of cocaine, two counts.
