Funeral services for Dorothy Lee Burns, of Brookhaven, are Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) with burial at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven. Bro. Pat Sullivan will officiate.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Burns, 89, died Sunday, April 30, 2017, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born March 8, 1928, in Lincoln County, to Ruben Smith and May Belle Coon Smith. She was retired as a salesperson and bookkeeper at Smart-N-Thrifty/Dress for Less dress store. She enjoyed her family, walking and her work. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Paul Charles Burns; and infant son, Ruben Burns.

Survivors are her daughters, Margaret Marbury and husband Jimmy and Linda Ainsworth and husband Donald; sons, Charles Burns and wife Diane and Danny Burns; grandchildren, Melissa Rhodus, Randy Watts, Ben Burns, Jeff Ainsworth and Kala Watring; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou McDavid, Lucille Stewart and Joyce Jordan; and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Compassus Hospice, 120 West Cherokee St., Brookhaven, MS 39601.
