Mrs. Lambert, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at Lawrence County Nursing Center with her loving family by her side. She was born Oct. 13, 1932, in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana to John “Bayou” Miller and Annie Lafosse Miller. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mother Rita loved to cook, visit with family and friends. She enjoyed wonderful fellowship with people and would always find her sitting around the table talking and laughing with people she loved, she and Daddy Ray once owned a restaurant years ago called “The Country Place.” They both showed their love for cooking good Cajun food and a warm feeling of good fellowship. She attended First Assembly of God Church in Brookhaven, where she enjoyed the preaching of the word of God and worshipping the Lord through music. She loved her church and her church family. She was devoted to reading her Bible and praying for her family and friends daily. She loved meeting new people and in the later years she made wonderful friends who were dear to her heart at Lawrence County Nursing Center. Mama Rita will surely be missed by many.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ray W. Lambert Sr.; son, Ray W. Lambert Jr.; sisters, Lori Thibodeaux and Elizabeth Pearl Miller; brother, Elridge “Doc” Miller, and stepbrother, Eugene Pelican, all of Louisiana.

Survivors are her sons, Carl lambert and wife Debra, of Monticello, and Gary Lambert and wife Eloise, of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Amy, Chrissie, Jennifer, Kim, Justin, LaDonna and Robert; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Nancy Eileen Grumbles Miller, of Dequincy, Louisiana, and a host of nieces and nephews and family and friends.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the Lawrence County Nursing Center for all their care and devotion to Mrs. Rita.
