The Loyd Star Lady Hornets and the West Lincoln Bears claimed the Lincoln County Junior High Tournament championships recently at Jack Case Gymnasium.

The Lady Hornets came back from an 11-8 halftime deficit to get past the Lady Bears of West Lincoln 25-22. Aubrey Britt led Loyd Star with 18 points. The Lady Bears were led by Brittany Sturkey’s 14-point night.

The Bears jumped out to a 19-8 lead at halftime over Enterprise and rolled to a 40-20 championship win. Jeff Carroll led West Lincoln with 11 points, while Enrico Price provided 10 points. Trevon Jones also added nine points for the Bears. The Jackets were led by Jay Jones with eight points.

“I am proud of what the boys were able to accomplish this year,” said West Lincoln Junior High Boys Coach Brooks Smith. “If this group sticks together and continues to work, they could accomplish even bigger and better things in the future.”

In a pair of consolation games, the Lady Bobcats from Bogue Chitto were victorious over Enterprise 24-12, while the Loyd Star Hornets eased past Bogue Chitto 33-20.
