Golf balls on sale for fundraiser at Southwest

A thousand golf balls will fall from the sky Monday to raise funds for the inaugural Live a Dream, Fulfill a Wish golf ball drop hosted by the Marketing Association for Mississippi Healthcare.

The event will be held at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center’s walking track in McComb Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Tours of the Rescue 9 helicopter with the flight crew will be offered from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Several health-related businesses and organizations will be on hand with promotional goodies and educational information for ticket holders. Cookies and lemonade will be served.

A giant crane will drop 1,000 numbered golf balls at Southwest’s ballfield with the winner of the ball closest to the target winning $1,000. Balls are $20 each, three balls for $50 or $100 for half a dozen.

The fundraiser will enable MAMH to assist elderly and homebound patients to be able to better navigate in their homes.

“So far our group, in partnership with St. Andrew’s Mission, have built a number of wheelchair ramps and enlarged bathroom entries for qualifying individuals” said MAMH President Kimberly Wooley.

Tickets are available at PJ’s Coffee, Family Pharmacy, Guy’s Pharmacies, Pine Grove Outreach, St. Luke Home Health & Hospice, Southwest MS Regional Medical Center, Thrift Homecare, Courtyard Rehabilitation and the Tobacco Free Coalition or by calling Minor Griffin at 601-248-7050.

T-shirts will be for sale at the golf ball drop.
