Registration packets are available at the Brookhaven School District central office through Monday and can be picked up by parents or guardians of children who will be BSD students in the fall.

The packets can be filled out and brought to the district’s “One Stop Shop” early registration and enrollment event to be held Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Lipsey Middle School.

Along with the completed information, parents or guardians should bring two proofs of residency with the legal guardian’s name and current address. These can be a utility bill that’s less than 30 days old, a voter ID, auto registration or a deed, lease, mortgage or rent receipt.

New students will need a copy of an immunization record and a copy of a birth certificate.

We’ve really been busy the last three days,” said Tracey Williams, secretary for Deputy Superintendent Rod Henderson.

She said the One Stop Shop makes it easier for parents to take care of all the registration forms that need to be filled out and returned. “This is something that we provide for parents who work. They can get the majority of the paperwork done ahead of time. We’re trying to make it easier for the parents.”

Parents will also need to know their section, township and range that is available from the Lincoln County Tax Collector’s office, but school district officials will be able to log into their computer program and give parents that information, she said.

Each school and various services will be separated in classrooms at Lipsey. Parents can go to the room for the school their child is going to attend and take care of all their business in one spot. They’ll also be able to get information about bus schedules, fill out lunch forms, learn about PTA and even order school T-shirts, she said.

“It will be well organized,” she said.

Williams said proof of Tdap vaccination for whooping cough is required for all seventh-graders and she suggests parents contact the Lincoln County Health Department at 601-833-3314 for an appointment before attending the One Stop Shop. The health department does not accept walk-ins for the booster shots, she said.
