Lady Jackets rally to beat Sumrall

SUMRALL – The Enterprise Lady Jackets rallied in the last three innings to defeat the Sumrall Lady Bobcats 9-5 Tuesday night.
“The girls played hard and did not give up,” said Enterprise coach Charissa Burke. “Carlee and Haley Nations both pitched a great game. Offensively, the girls did a great job fighting back to help us finish the regular season with a win.”
The Lady Jackets (13-9, 6-2) will begin their playoff run in Class 2A Friday when they play Clarkdale in a best-of-three series. Enterprise will visit Clarkdale Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Jackets will host Clarkdale at home Saturday for the second and third game, if needed, starting at 1 p.m.
Lady Jackets 9, Lady Bobcats 5
Sumrall managed to score the first two runs of the game in third inning. The Lady Bobcats added another run to extend their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth.
Trailing 3-0, the Lady Jackets caught fire in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings and outscored the Lady Bobcats 9-2 to collect the win.
Carlee Nations and Haley Nations combined to collect the win on the rubber for the Lady Jackets with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Carlee Nations directed the Lady Jackets with a double and two singles. Haley Nations fueled the flames with three singles. Morgan Smith contributed a double and a single. Lauren Gartman and Jana Nations provided two singles each. Hitting safely were Abby Meredith, Kalyn Chemin and Brooke Foster.
Katelyn Russell was the top hitter for the Lady Bobcats with a double and a single. Christen Williamson, Ember West, Abigail Thornton and Bailey McPhail finished with a single each.
